A foggy Brackettville morning.

I was up all night and probably would have gone to bed around dawn but I saw that it was foggy. I wanted to try and take advantage of the dawn light through the fog. 200 photos later I had nothing to show for it. Yet I couldn't bear not to keep SOMETHING from the morning so I saved the sunrise shot above and the shots of this curious doe in the Brackettville cemetery below. She couldn't quite decide what I was.

It was a lot harder to remove the light from this color photo. In fact, it might have been easier to wait for some more fog at night and try shooting again. It's not perfect and I don't know how it will look printed, but it's great practice for me. Here I have Photoshop 6.0 and I barely know how to use it. Such a waste!

I'll learn... however slowly.

Leaping Lenses, Batman!

Playing in Photoshop to try and tweak my favorite pic in this series of photos. I figured out how to use the cloning tool, finally. It helped fixed the camera glare in the lower right corner of the photo better than I had it "fixed" in my previous post. I don't think I can fix that light between the tree trunks... not with my limited skills. Thanks for your honest input, Jean! It's exactly what I needed to hear. Below is the original, unretouched photo:

Full Moon Fog

About the time I should have been getting ready for bed I saw that the predicted fog had, indeed, rolled in. Insomniac that I am, I decided to hit the streets in hopes of snapping a good fog shot or two. I had the streets all to myself. I took 49 shots and didn't really get anything I'm proud of. I shot an old building with a tree growing out its window, the courthouse, and the main intersection in town. They were all crap. The cemetery isn't lit at all at night and neither was the football field, so those were out. I shot at the basketball courts and the following are from there. The tree and bench below, backlit by a huge sodium light, are the only ones I'm not too embarrassed to share, although they're all virtually the same shot. I think I like the first one and the last one best.
