This was really hard!

I thought it was going to be a simple matter to pop this sweet potato in my light-box and take some quick shots of it. I was so wrong.

Maybe if I had a real macro lens for my camera instead of just the "macro" setting I would have had a better time of it. And it might also have helped if I'd had some better light than the two lamps I set up on my kitchen counter.

The first shot was taken inside, the other two were taken outside. It's painfully bright here today (I'm cooking chicken outside in the Hot Pot--yea!) but it still wasn't quite enough light to allow my camera to focus on the tiniest leaves easily. I also need a wider light-box. You can see an edge from inside the light-box in the first photo. It was a constant struggle to keep the shot inside the edges of the paper in my light-box. I'm also thinking that the freezer paper I used to line my light-box is too thick, it blocks more light than I'd like.

The purple stems and those tiny little leaves are so beautiful and delicate. Too delicate for my photo skills, certainly. Still, it was a good exercise, as I learned a new trick in Photoshop (always worth my time), and I found more about the kind of light I need for working with a light-box.
