Stars, Hugs, Smiles

I had a little help today at the Free Hugs booth held at our local health fair.

Her day was nearly ruined by her torn stockings, but a pacekt of star spangled stickers seem to make her feel all better about it.

I actually had quite a bit of help, but not until much later in the day. This little one was there from 11 a.m. until after 5. She was a doll. And she stole all the hugs.... most people had little or no interest in hugging me after they laid eyes on her. If someone didn't want a hug, I could usually persuade them by turning to her and pointedly saying, "Hold up your sign sweetie." Worked over and over all day.

The lighting at the local civic center is horrendous, everything has sort of a sickly mustard yellow hue. Ugh.

Funny thing about hugging all these retirees here... especially if they got to hug the angel in these photos, so many of them commented on how much they missed their little ones. If asked to elaborate they would either refer to their grandchildren or what their own children were like when they were younger. People young and old lit up when they hugged my little helper today. Their hearts just opened to her. You see the way her face is being held in the picture below? I saw about a dozen people touch her face that way today. Most of them older and misty eyed from their hug.
